To refine the knowledge and enhance the quality of teachers in the country, the ministry of Human Resource Development and the Government of India has taken an initiative. With the combined collaboration with Royal Netherland, there is an establishment of four Regional Technical Teacher’ Training Institute now known by the name NITTTR. NITTTR Chandigarh and the other three centers take an active role and responsibilities for improving the knowledge and offering great teachers to the society. 

National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research or NITTTR Chandigarh look after the working of the states in the Northern Region. Other than this there are three more centers in different locations of the country in Chennai, Kolkata, and Bhopal.

National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research Chandigarh

NITTTR Chandigarh was established with an objective to meet the requirements of developing and advancing polytechnic education in the northern region. The institute look after the working of all major states of North India including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajashtan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi.

NITTTR is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. It is managed by the Board of Governors. Also, it fulfills the responsibility of promoting curriculum development work for all the states under the institute. 

NITTTR Programmes

The institute also helps in improving the competence of teachers by offering short term courses in 1967. Later in the year 1981, the institute established Media Centre. The center was for preparing print and non-print instructional materials. 

The institute set the Rural Development and Entrepreneurship Development Department. It offers assistance to polytechnics to direct their efforts towards manpower and disseminating information.

Followed in 1981 and 1982 respectively the Educational Television and Computer Science department was established.

Since 1992, the institute started offering Regular Master of Engineering program; Engineering  Education and Manufacturing Technology.

In 1994, two more courses namely; Master of Engineering in Construction Technology & Management, and Computer Science & Engineering were added into the list. 

Almost every other year, NITTTR has something new to offer. It is offering short term courses to the aspirants since 2001.  

The short term courses are being offered in various subjects for refining knowledge of faculty of Engineering Colleges along with the organization of AICTE sponsored Induction Training Programmes. 

NITTTR Chandigarh Short Term Courses

The center offers various short term courses to the aspirants. Some of the courses in the NITTTR list include

  • Diploma programs for engineering
  • The center takes active participation in developing the new curricula. 
  • Also, it prepares instructional material.
  • NITTTR offers the training programs in core areas including:
    • Curriculum development and evaluation
    • NBA accreditation procedure
    • Institutional development
    • Peripheral area (including textile technology, printing technology, and basic sciences) 
  • Other short term courses in the list include ‘Advanced Certificate Courses in Curriculum Design and Instructional Material Development’ for overseas participants. 

The Centre carries other activities related to short term academic programs like staff development need analysis, short course panning, and consolidation.

Course Brochure execution is another short term course that executes 200 short courses for polytechnic.

It takes the responsibility for preparing planning documents like Result Framework Document, Outcome Budget, Annual Report, and Preparation of Data & Report for presenting it to MHRD and other agencies. 

It arranged consultancy projects in DPR areas. These projects are for the establishment of new polytechnics, Programme evaluation and institutional Evaluation for major intervention like the World Bank Assisted Project.

Eligibility Criteria For NITTTR NTT Recruitment 

NITTTR released the official notification for the recruitment of NTT teachers. The post is for the 131 aspirants who are looking forward to the NTT teacher post. 

The post remains active for applying from September 06-09-2019 to 30-09-2019. The latest update of the post was out in November regarding the admit card. 

The exam date was 16th November 2019 and the overall selection process based on written exam and document verification.

NITTTR Chandigarh NTT Recruitment is for the aspirants who successfully qualified their 12th examination and have a diploma in Nursery Teacher Education or Early Childhood Education Programme (D.E.C.Ed) with the duration of not less than two years/ Pre-School education or B.Ed (Nursery) from National Council for Teacher Education from the recognized institution. 

The minimum age limit for the exam was 18 years while the maximum is 37 years.
