Situated in the trendiest neighborhood of Sector-17, Zakir Hussain Chandigarh Rose Garden is made up of more than 30 acres of land. It is awarded as Asia’s largest Botanical Garden.
This garden lives up to its name, as it offers learning opportunities about gardening and protecting habitats for visitors of all ages. Over 1600 different species of roses and other plants are arranged throughout the area. Replete with amazing fountains and a lush green environment all around, the garden was built in the classic French style.
Even though there is so much space to roam, nearly every inch of it is filled with flowers, plants, and forests that will dazzle your eyes and excite your sense of smell.
Apart from its serene beauty all around, this garden offers you the most popular festival of Chandigarh! Every year, Rose Festival is celebrated with great exuberance. More than 50,000 people visit this festival which lasts for 3 days in the month of Love and Spring ie. February.
This year, Rose Garden Festival completed its 46th Anniversary. The tourism department of the Chandigarh administration will also organize musical nights of Punjab and Bollywood singers for all three days at Leisure Valley, Sector 10. In the rose fest, the visitors will be able to witness a total of 850 varieties of the roses, as compared to 820 varieties, which were available during last year’s festival.
Among many events, the helicopter ride was a major attraction this year too. Interestingly this event was introduced at the last year’s festival.
